IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE NEWS INFORMATION
AND SPIRIT OF A REGION.
Il Resto del Carlino was founded in the 19th
century, in 1885 precisely, as the Italian newspaper with
a most original heading. At the time, cigars cost less than
a "carlino" - the currency of the times. Thus the change of
a "carlino" was a reasonable price for this publication, born
to offer a detailed overview of what was happening in the
world by quoting news from press agencies and newspapers in
London, Paris and Vienna, but most of all referring to what
was happening locally.
From that time, il Resto del Carlino has
been synonymous with Bologna. It is evident because the newspaper
truly identifies itself with its city of origin and interprets
its spirit, with its prestigious writers such as Giovanni
Pascoli to Gabriele D'Annuzio, from Giuseppe Prezzolini to
Curzio Malaparte, and Giovanni Spadolini. Today, with its
numerous local news offices (fourteen in total), it overcomes
the city limits, covering three regions among the most beautiful
in terms of quality of life (as has been asserted for a long
time by American universities) and important economically.
Il Resto del Carlino is an undisputed leader
in terms of its readers and authority thanks to the detailed
local news information and the completeness of the coverage
for national and international news.
Being in existence for more than a century,
il Resto del Carlino represents quite rightfully, the model
of a daily newspaper permanently dedicated to its readers
and in tune with their interests.
